Program Automatic Route Selection

To program Automatic Route Selection:

  1. Trunk Groups form
    Create a trunk group number and assign trunks to the trunk group.

  2. Call Progress Tone Detection form (Optional)
    Create an ARS Call Progress Tone Detection plan.

  3. ARS Digit Modification Plans form
    For each Digit Modification Number, specify the number of dialed digits to absorb and the digits to be inserted.

  4. Class of Restriction Groups form
    Specify the Classes of Restriction to include in each Class of Restriction Group.

  5. ARS Routes form
    For each Route Number, specify the Trunk Group Number, Class of Restriction Group Number, and Digit Modification Number.
    (Optional) In the Digits Before Outpulsing field for each Route Number, specify the number of digits to process before overlap outpulsing begins.
    (Optional) Designate routes to be used for Emergency Services by entering "E" in the Route Type column.

  6. Day and Time Zones form (Optional)
    Create a Day and Time Zone plan.

  7. ARS Route Plans form (Optional)
    Create a Route Plan.

  8. ARS Route Lists form (Optional)
    For each Route List Number, specify routes in order from least expensive to most expensive.
    (Optional) Apply Warning Tone to more expensive routes.

  9. ARS Digits Dialed form
    Specify the digits to dial to access routing information.
    Complete the Number of Digits to Follow field.
    In the Termination field, specify one of the following:

  10. the type "Route" and a Route Number

  11. the type "List" and a Route List Number

  12. the type "Plan" and a Route Plan Number (for advanced ARS only).

  1. ARS Leading Digits form (Optional)
    In the Leading Digits field, specify which digits must be dialed to access the information in this form.
    In the COR Group field, specify the Class of Restriction Group number that the does NOT have access to ARS leading digits.

To provide for call restriction after CO dial tone (Optional):

  1. ARS Digits Dialed form:
    Digits Dialed = blank
    Number of Digits to Follow = unknown
    Termination - route

  2. ARS Leading Digits form:
    Second Dial Tone = Alternate

  3. When Alternate is chosen there will be a route selected for local calling and a route selected for long distance calling. To restrict a user, apply a COR that allows local calling but denies long distance.

  4. Note: Alternate Secondary Dial Tone will permit a user to receive trunk seizure confirmation before dialing all digits. This is useful when trunk to extension ratio is such that trunks are often busy.

    If the digits a user dials, after receiving CO dial tone, are permitted and COR is satisfied then the digits will be sent to the Central Office and the call proceeds.

    If the digits a user dials, after receiving CO dial tone, are COR restricted then the call is denied, System busy tone is applied, and the trunk is dropped. After receiving dial tone, if a user dials digits that are COR restricted then the call is denied, the trunk is dropped, and the system provides Toll Denial - Route Digits intercept handling to the caller.

To bar a station from all outgoing trunks:

  1. Class of Restriction Groups form
    Assign the COR of the station to a COR Group.

  2. ARS Routes form
    Enter the station's COR Group Number in the COR Group Number field.

  3. ARS Digit Modification Plans form
    Create an instance of the ARS Digit Modification Plans form that has the trunk access code (normally "9") in the Leading Digits field.
    Leave the remaining fields blank.
